Sara Javangorouh
PhD Student
Sara began her engineering journey in Iran with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Afterwards, she pursued a Master’s degree in Solid Mechanics through the STRAINS European master program as an Erasmus Mundus scholarship recipient . For her thesis, titled “Investigation of Parameters Influencing Crack Initiation in Metal Plates,” she worked under the supervision of Professor Thomas Pardoen at UCLouvain.
Currently, Sara is pursuing a PhD as part of the HAPI project. Her research focuses on understanding the factors affecting the fracture toughness of metallic sheets, including strain hardening and thickness. She combines numerical simulations, utilizing 2D and 3D models such as the nonlocal GTN model, with experimental studies, primarily on Al2050 alloy.
